West Macdonnell Ranges & Gorges

Discover the West MacDonnell Ranges and Gorges with AAT Kings. Begin by travelling west from Alice Springs past the John Flynn Memorial (founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service). First stop is Simpson's Gap known for its red gum scenery. Continue to Standley Chasm where we take a walk through the stony watercourse of the chasm lined with cycads, ghost gums, acacias and cypress pines.
Travel to Ellery Creek Big Hole, before arriving at Ormiston Gorge. Travel on to Helen Gorge, a semi permanent water hole to stop for lunch and perhaps a refreshing swim may be possible at one of the waterholes. At Glen Helen Homestead you have the opportunity to take in the spectacular views by helicopter (own expense). Visit Mt Sonder Lookout before returning to Alice Springs.
