3 Day Red Centre Wonders
AAT Kings offers this 3 day Red Centre Wonders tour to Ayers Rock, which is an ideal way to explore the Northern Territory with freedom and flexibility. On this Ayers Rock tour, see sunset and sunrise over Uluru and join a guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole.
Your AAT Kings driver/guide will take you on a guided walk through The Olgas (Kata Tjuta) and a climb to the Kings Canyon Rim where you will marvel at the spectacular views.
Itinerary
Day 1 Kata Tjuta (the Olgas): On arrival at Ayers Rock Airport you will be transferred to your hotel (flights into Ayers Rock Airport prior to 1.00pm). Travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) stopping en route for panoramic views of its eastern side. Continue to Walpa Gorge where the walking trail through the gorge follows the natural creek bed between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. Later, enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine while watching the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset.
Day 2 Uluru (Ayers Rock): Rise early this morning and travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area, Talinguru nyakunytjaku, to see the Red Centre set alight by the first rays of the sun. Enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee and biscuits as the colours of Uluru gradually change when the sun rises over the horizon. Commence a base tour of Uluru, including a guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about flora, fauna and Aboriginal history from your Driver/Guide. Continue around the base of Uluru by coach and see various sacred areas. Visit the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre where there is time to read the Tjukurpa (Aboriginal law) or purchase some locally made Aboriginal art. Travel through spectacular desert scenery from Ayers Rock Resort to Kings Canyon Resort by luxury coach. Pass through Curtain Springs and view Atila (Mt. Conner). After turning off the Lasseter Highway and on to Luritja Road your Driver/Guide will provide informative commentary about the history of the surrounding cattle stations. Arrive at Kings Canyon Resort before dusk. To finish off the day you may have time to view the sun set behind Carmichaels Crag.
Day 3 Kings Canyon - Alice Springs: This morning join your guide for the rocky climb to the rim of magnificent Kings Canyon, which is located in Watarrka National Park (this is a 3 hour walk and is for those with a good level of fitness, sturdy footwear required). Or you may wish to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier shady walk. There is time to purchase lunch at Kings Canyon Resort (own expense) before travelling to Alice Springs.
