3 Day Kakadu 4WD Safari

This 3 Day 4WD Kakadu Experience with Connections Safaris allows you to explore the heart of Kakadu National Park on an amazing camping adventure staying at Murdudjurl. This is one of the more adventurous tours, as it requires a moderate level of agility to ensure you gain the maximum enjoyment on safari.

The highlights of this 4WD Kakadu tour are definitely Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls as well as the Yellow Water Cruise. Ubirr and Nourlangie Rock, the Bowali Visitors Centre and Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Travel with no more than 7 passengers in an air conditioned four wheel drive. Each night is spent at a fully-established camp site, set in a private area. The campsite is within easy walking distance of showers and toilets.

Itinerary

Day 1 Darwin - Kakadu: Leave Darwin and travel to the exclusive Dreamtime Safari Camp situated on the banks of the Murdudjurl Billabong. This afternoon take the Murdudjurl Cultural Tour to learn more about local aboriginal people and their country. Set up camp for the evening, having dinner around the camp, under the stars.

Day 2 Kakadu: After an early breakfast, depart for a big day out to Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls. These falls are in a remote area of the Park only accessible by four wheel drive vehicle, some 70 kilometres off the sealed road via a dirt track. This is an area of incredible natural beauty, and the waterfalls are rainwater fed, therefore after several months without rain (around August and September) it's possible they may not be flowing. The rock pools and surrounds are magnificent year round and well worth the journey. Twin Falls is only accessible by water therefore we take a short boat ride through the gorge to the beach at the base of the falls. After a picnic lunch on the banks of the river, take the hike (approximately 1 km) through the rainforest to Jim Jim Falls and its crystal clear waters. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Kakadu - Darwin: After breakfast this morning, cruise the spectacular Yellow Waters, home to a wide variety of bird life and possibly the lurking Saltwater Crocodile. Travel to the crystal clear rock pool and scenic beauty of Barramundi Gorge. Then visit the colourful rock art and spectacular scenery of Ubirr Rock. This is a fascinating site with spectacular views over Kakadu. Take the Arnhem Highway back to Darwin, arriving at approximately 6.30pm.
