3 Day Ayers Rock, Olgas & Kings Canyon 4wd Safari

Ayers Rock, Olgas & Kings Canyon 4wd Safari

Wayoutback Desert Safaris offer the adventure traveller an authentic outback camping safari with a touch of style and quality. This 3 day Ayers Rock, Olgas and Kings Canyon 4wd safari adds a more adventurous element to the trip, leaving the sealed road behind for a typical outback dirt road. If that's not outback enough, the tour then heads 'wayoutback' 4-Wheel driving on bush tracks, across riverbeds and over sand dunes boldly going where no other tours dare.

On this small group (maximum 14 passengers) Ayers Rock tour you will visit the “must see” places of Central Australia such as Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon, and as importantly Wayoutback Desert Safaris gives you the opportunity to really experience the desert. Bush camping, eating quality food cooked over a campfire and sleeping under the clearest southern stars you can imagine.

Wayoutback Desert Safaris - Ayers Rock TourKings Creek Station near Kings Canyon

Day 1 - Alice Springs to Ayers Rock: The journey departs from Alice Springs heading south to Erldunda, travelling through the Waterhouse and James Ranges with a stop at the Camel Farm for refreshments and an optional Camel ride. We also stop at Mt Ebenezer Roadhouse where you can view or purchase a range of Aboriginal artifacts. On the way to Uluru (Ayers Rock) see Atila (Mount Connor), a mesa tableland and the first significant rock formation of our trip. After our stop for lunch and our arrival at the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, we head to the Cultural Centre before a short guided walk at the base of Uluru. You can choose an optional tour such as a full base walk, climb Uluru or join the Aboriginal guided Kuniya Walk. In the afternoon, experience the famous changing colours of Uluru at sunset complete with sparkling wine and nibbles.

Day 2 - Ayers Rock to Kings Creek Station: From a lookout close to our campsite, we can view sunrise over Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). After packing up the swags we head off to Kata Tjuta for a leisurely 7 kilometre walk through the “Valley of the Winds”. After a stop at the Resort for fuel and refreshments, we're off to Kings Creek Cattle Station for our second nights bush camp, complete with bush toilet and shower. With nobody else for miles, this camp has stunning views out over the George Gill Ranges and gives you a real feel for the outback. Dinner around the campfire makes for a very social time with another night out under the stars.

Day 3 - Kings Creek Station to Alice Springs: A leisurely start to the day before we head off to Watarrka (Kings Canyon) for a mind blowing 7 kilometre walk through the towering walls, crevices and plateaus. Visit the Amphitheatre and Lost City plus a chance to swim in the tranquil “Garden of Eden”. Adjacent to Watarrka lies an Aboriginal Community called Lilla, where we stop for lunch at a picnic area. After lunch, one of the Luritja traditional owners, Sadie Williams (or a member of her family), will take you on an optional 1 hour Willy Wagtail guided walk. After Lilla, we head back to Alice Springs travelling on a typical outback dirt road and then 4 wheel driving, crossing riverbeds and sand dunes. Arrive back to Alice Springs early evening. (Alice Springs seems like the big smoke after 3 days in the bush).
